She was able to get the job because she started as an intern in her last year of college and then went to a free position as an HR assistance. She has four years with the company. She went to Baruch college , she studied Human Resources management and industrial organization. She is still involved in school getting her masters for Labor Relations.

I lived in New York all my life.
Where did you go to high School? What kind of students were you? What were your favorite classes? What sports or extracurricular activities did you do?
I went to high school in Manhattan at JKO High School. I was an honor Roll student. My favorite class was math and my least favorite one was science. I played track and field. I used to volunteer Bowery Mission and I also tutored kids.

Yes, I am currently attending graduate school at Baruch college for three years, I am earning my Industrial Labor Relations degree.
How did you choose your current occupation?
I was introduce to HR in my I/O (Industrial and organization) psychology class in my third year of college and that’s when I made the switch from accounting To HR ( Human Resources).
What steps did you take to get this Job? How did you learn about it? How many interviews did you have? Was the Hiring process difficult? If a person were looking for a job at your Company what advise would you offer?
I attended many , many internship fairs and that’s why I landed to this job. My school had a career internship about this job , which I attended and that‘s how I learned about it. I had only one interview. The hiring process was not difficult because I did research on the company and I practiced my resume. If someone was looking for a job at my company I would tell them to do research on the company. To come up with fashion. To be enthusiastic, eager and motivated. Come in with questions and be yourself.
What is your job title and what are three tasks or responsibilities you do most often?
I am the HR coordinator for NY1 News. Three tasks and responsibilities I do more often are:
- Respond to employees inquires
- Assist new hires in their upboarding process
- Manage the internship program
Yes, I worked in retail and accounting in Manhattan for less than a year. It was very different because in accounting you are lock in a room, here you interact with employees.
What do you see as your future at this company? If you plan on changing jobs, what will you do?
I have a passion for Human Resources and I want to focus on training and development.

I hope that you , as a high school intern can bring up fresh ideas and new efficient way of processing.
What advice would you give to teenage interns ( such as myself) getting ready for college?
I would advice you to complete the most internships possible. Embrace your knowledge. Explore new and different opportunity career path. Research, research, learn, learn, grow and grow.

Don’t underestimate the power of multiple internships.
Find a mentor! Always ask questions!

My supervisor’s name is Irina Vollazo and she is the HR generalist. I interact with her every single day. We are team department environment. I supervise 26 interns.
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is employee relations. Working with people.
