Midpoint Reflection

The Primary mission of my internship is to share news about the five boroughs which are Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. Ny1 is there to let people know about events around their borough and it keeps people informed . If Ny1 didn’t exist people wouldn’t be aware of what’s going on in their neighborhood. My internship has been similar to my expectations because I gained more skills and experience. I completed several advance tasks. It failed my expectations because I didn't think I will get tired in the middle of it. Ny1 is similar to IHSL because it has colleagues and also ameliorate people’s knowledge. At my internship I learned to be more organized and I also improved a lot with typing and using Excel. My mentor and the co-workers are really nice. They always greet me when they see me. Now I have a better sense of how to interact with adults and I am getting pretty confident when I have to communicate with them. At my internship I learned new words and it’s a big advantage for me because it helps me enrich my vocabulary. During this period of time interning at Ny1 I learned to be discrete. Since I am the only student interning there, I learned to work individually. I struggled a lot at first because I thought it would have been better to be with some of my friends. Now I realized that it’s good to be on my own because friends are not going to be with me forever. One challenge I overcome was comprehension. When my mentor explains something I try my best to practice first before asking for any help. Now I use calendar to help me keep track of tasks that I need to complete. I create a list to prevent procrastination. I want to have less work so I don’t get overwhelmed with too many work. My goals for the five weeks of internship is to move to another department and to also start experiencing new other things.
I learned that NYC is a very populated place because I see so many people working on the street of Manhattan and I was completely unable to get out of the way.
I chose this picture because I think it's the best one that represents NY1. Since it has a microphone and it says news. It's completely relevant to represent Ny1 because it's about sharing news.
