Post 9, Final reflection

1. Think back to the beginning of internship. What were your goals? Did you achieve these goals? If so, what did you have to do consistently to achieve the goals?
When I first begin interning at Ny1, my goals were to expend my knowledge, learn to work professionally, gain skills , get more experience and develop relationship with people from outside. I didn't achieve all these goals but I did attain some of them. Since I didn't work at Ny1 for a long time I was not able to develop a great relationship with my supervisors.

2. What are the most important ideas or skills you’ve learned in the last 10 weeks?
In the last ten weeks I learned to be more organized and I improved a lot with typing and using Excel. I learned to communicate with adults. I also learned to use calendar to help keep track of tasks that I need to accomplish. The most important thing I receive is tip on how to get a job.

3. What has having a relationship with a professional employee such as your supervisor/mentor meant to your personal development? How have you have grown as a student and/or young adult in this relatively new country?
It was a great experience because I learned from others' experience and they also give me advice that can serve me in the future. From this internship I became more aware of my future. I want to start experiencing different career path and also find the best career that would fit me in the future.

4. What were the highlights (memorable moments) of your internship experience?
The most memorable moment at my internship was at the college intern's party. The reporters were telling their stories on how they begin working at NY1 to the college interns. I enjoyed listening to their stories. They also gave them great advices for the future.

5. What are your thoughts about jobs, careers, or the professional world in general as a result of having spent 125 hours working in it?
I think that finding a career or job can be a very difficult process. However when you finally find the one that matches you , you will be comfortable and love your career or job.

 6. After high school, what do you want to pursue for a career? Are you more or less interested in college as a result of your internship?
After high school I want to be involve in medical care. I am more interested in college as result of my internship because I want to have a bright future.

7. What were your biggest challenges to overcome and how did you handle those challenges?
My biggest challenge was communicating with a stranger and getting to know him/her. I tried my best to interact with the person . Even though it was very difficult I am glad I surpassed this challenge.

8. If you were to start a brand new internship next week, what are at least two things you would do differently?
The two things I would do differently would be interacting with others more and try utilizing my skills more.

9. Think of two to three pieces of advice you could offer a new intern at your site.
  •  Interact with your supervisors often
  • promote yourself well
  • Choose something that will benefit you in the future
10. What will you miss about your internship?
I will miss seeing the employees because they were really nice. I will also miss being at work for a while. It was a great feeling and a wonderful experience.
